Train for the NPLQ Gen 10 with us – now worth 8 UCAS tariff points
From May 2024, the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s (RLSS UK) new Generation 10 NPLQ qualification will be worth 8 UCAS points to anyone successfully completing the independent assessment.
In respect of lifeguarding being such an important and responsible job, RLSS UK have raised the NPLQ to a Level 3 qualification registered with UCAS and is worth 8 UCAS Tariff point
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland, with 95% of all UK pool lifeguards holding the NPLQ. Endorsed against the CIMSPA Lifeguard Standard, NPLQ Gen 10 is the latest RLSS UK NPLQ edition.
NPLQ Gen 10 sits firmly within the apprenticeship framework and is still open to anyone aged 16 and over who can meet the course prerequisites. The qualification is designed for all pool lifeguards, training them in cutting edge of lifesaving, lifeguarding, water safety and life support skills.
We run several NPLQ training courses at our centres throughout the year, designed to teach budding lifeguards the skills needed for the job and to gain a fully funded nationally recognised qualification.
Not only will you gain a valuable life skill, the NPLQ is a fantastic foundation to a career in leisure, setting up an exciting career pathway. You will be supported in achieving your NPLQ Gen10 and on completion you will be able to work as a lifeguard at our centre.

No previous lifeguarding experience required, the NPLQ Gen 10 will teach you the skills you need, but you will need to be a strong swimmer and able to meet the minimum requirements in a swim test.
