Join our Free Night-Time Walking Club in Support of This Girl Can

Warsop Health Hub is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new initiative designed to support the "Let’s Lift the Curfew" campaign by This Girl Can (TGC). This campaign highlights the fact that nearly 75% of women modify their outdoor activities during the winter months.

Recent research from TGC revealed that 24% of women make sure they walk on well-lit routes after dark, 23% avoid certain areas altogether, and 20% are extra cautious, often checking behind them to make sure they’re not being followed while exercising outdoors. These adjustments reflect the safety challenges many women face when staying active during the winter season.

In response to this, we have launched a free, inclusive walking club designed to encourage outdoor activity in the winter months. The club will meet each Thursday at 4:30pm at our reception and will take participants on a walk around Carr Lane Park, led by one of our friendly team members, with clip on torches and glow sticks available!

While the club is primarily aimed at women, men are also welcome to join the walk if they’d like to get involved. After the walk, participants can relax with a complimentary drink – the perfect way to refuel and socialise after a brisk evening stroll.

Why we’re doing this

Exercising outdoors shouldn’t feel unsafe or intimidating. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to stay active and experience the benefits of physical activity, even when the nights are longer. By launching this walking club, we’re taking a stand against the barriers that often hold people back from staying fit and healthy in the winter months.

How to join

The club is free to attend and open to everyone – you don’t need to be a member to participate.

To sign up, all you need to do is contact us.

We can’t wait to see you there!
